Scope of Practice:
The registered nurse demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by registration requirements, National Board standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation and context of care. The registered nurse provides evidence-based nursing care to people of all ages and cultural groups, including individuals, families and communities. Their role is to promote and maintain health while assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team so as to achieve goals and health outcomes. They contribute to quality health care through developing their professional practice in accordance with the health needs of society and changing patterns of disease and illness.
Primary Purpose:
The Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife is responsible for the provision of person centered; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse/Midwife will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
Key Responsibilities:
Practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s Standards for Practice and maintain registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority Systematically assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care utilizing patient records. Document patient care plans, progress reports, and referral practices in accordance with requirements. Ensuring effective delivery of quality, timely and culturally appropriate patient care to a diverse range of people with range of health issues related to physical or mental illness and/or other health challenges. Assisting, supporting and guiding the education, clinical placement and development of Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing and fellow Registered Nurses or Midwives Fostering an atmosphere conducive to open communication, problem solving and team building. Promoting evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement within the ward/unit. Participating in health care planning, practice and evaluation. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with patients, carers and other health care team members/colleagues regarding nursing or midwifery care.

- Relevant experience for the ward, specialty unit or operating suite.
